It didn’t take long for enthusiasm to become contagious. In a matter of weeks, the number of teachers wanting to participate in the district’s new laptop initiative exceeded 500. With a goal of inspiring more teachers to use technology in the classroom, the Board approved a million dollars each year for the past four years to fund a laptop initiative that puts laptops and projectors into the hands of teachers. More than 2,000 teachers have received equipment, participated in training, and are working together to create a web-based learning community.
