Watch video - Your next "A" could be a phone call away!
Horry County Schools announces its seventh season of Homework TV
on the educational access channel, TV 12, beginning Tuesday, September
18. This live, interactive, call-in show is designed to provide the
students of Horry County with some extra help with their mathematics
and English language arts homework assignments. The show is on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. during the regular
school year. The first hour is dedicated to mathematics and the second
hour follows with English language arts.
Anyone with
a homework question – a student or parent – can call Homework TV at
488-6797 during program hours. The host teacher will then attempt to
help the caller not only answer the question, but will also reinforce
the strategies and lessons taught.
Homework
TV is designed as a teaching and tutoring aide for middle school
students of Horry County, although students from all grade levels have
called in with questions. If there are no calls, the teacher will
present a middle school level, standards-based lesson.
Homework TV teacher hosts for 2007-2008 are as follows:
- Mathematics,
5- 6 p.m., Micah Freeman, Forestbrook Middle School; Michael Oerther,
Ocean Bay Middle School; and Meredith Baldwin, Early College High
School.
- English
Language Arts, 6-7 p.m., Angie Richardson, Black Water Middle School;
Marion Touzel, Ocean Bay Middle School; and Jean Burden, Loris Middle
School.
The educational
access channel is located on Channel 12 for subscribers of cable
services from Horry Telephone Cooperative, Inc., and for some
subscribers of Time Warner Cable.
