From the school-level Teachers of the Year, 10 have been named semi-finalists for the title of Horry County Schools’ Teacher of the Year. Semi-finalists will be interviewed by a panel and will be asked to produce artifacts of student achievement. Following interviews, five finalists will be selected by March 12. Following a series of classroom observations, the district winner will be announced at the Teacher of the Year banquet on May 4.
Top 10 semi-finalists are: Michelle Todd Richardson, Aynor Elementary School; Phyllis J. Nye, Aynor Middle School; Jennifer B. Crawford, Burgess Elementary School; Kimberly L. Means-Nesmith, Carolina Forest Elementary School; Jenny A. Edwards, Forestbrook Elementary School; Elaine DeCastro-Greenlief, Myrtle Beach High School; Jessica Hudacko, North Myrtle Beach Elementary School; Lou Ellen Moore Blackmon, Socastee High School; Brett D. Mahaffey, St. James High School; and Richard Reyes, Waccamaw Elementary School.
