The Horry County Board of Education voted to recommend Neil James to Governor Mark Sanford for his consideration as the interim Board member for District 10.
The vacancy will be filled by appointment of the Governor until the 2010 general election, at which time a member will be elected from District 10 for a term of four years, or until such time that the Governor reinstates the suspended Board member. Chris Shannon represented District 10 but was suspended by Governor Sanford after he was indicted by the Horry County Grand Jury on May 28, 2009.
