HCS communications projects earn honors for effectiveness

(posted on May 28, 2010)

The South Carolina chapter of the National School Public Relations Association honored the effectiveness of more than 70 programs and projects from across the state recently at its annual Rewards for Excellence recognition ceremony.  Horry County Schools received more than any other school district in district-level competition, earning six awards in various categories: Special Purpose Publication; Handbook; Calendar; Website; Electronic Newsletter; and Annual Report.

This annual recognition program celebrates outstanding communications and public relations efforts by South Carolina schools, school districts, and education agencies and associations.

The state chapter is an affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association. More than 100 school public relations practitioners, superintendents, and other education professionals from across the state are chapter members.  The organization strives to foster training and career development in the field of school public relations and to encourage meaningful community involvement in and understanding of South Carolina’s public school systems.
