Congratulations to the Myrtle Beach Seahawk Boys' Tennis Team - 2009 State Champions!! They defeated Bluffton 7-0, defeated Hilton Head 4-3, defeated Camden for the Lower State Championship 4-3, and defeated Riverside in the Finals 4-2, for the team's fourth straight State Championship and ninth total. It was a total team effort in all the matches that led to the State Championship. The team was led by Chip Cox, Elliot Giddens, Henri Liriani, Eric Wunder, Trevor Funderburk, Ken Etheridge, Thi Lam, Jack Woodward, John Rosner, Clay Ropp, Tyler Berkey, Nick Rierson, Cole Bellamy, Jackson Spradlin, Kevin Meeks, Wright Clarkson, Alec Marinaro, Carson Cox, Victor Lopez, Ruwan Gunawansa and Manager, John Edward Cahill. The State Championship celebration assembly will be held Friday at 8:30 in the MBHS auditorium.
Also, congratulations to Chip Cox and Elliot Giddens for being chosen to participate in the AAA-AAAA State Singles Tournament in Columbia.
