Fourteen students from Horry County Schools earned $3,800 in awards at the 2009 Horry-Georgetown County High School Juried Fine Arts Exhibition presented by First Federal. The exhibit featured 78 projects chosen from more than 350 entries. Terrand Gore of Loris High School received a $3,000 scholarship for his portfolio of work. Alexandra Bindewald of the Academy for Arts, Science and Technology won Best of Show and took home $200 for her prismacolor colored pencils work titled 29579. The annual show of student work was displayed at the Frankin G. Burroughs-Simon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach.
Two Dimensional Awards: Sarah Waldrop, Academy for Arts, Science and Technology, First Place, $100 for her mixed media entry titled Tongue; $100; Ryan Shaver, Academy for Arts, Science and Technology, Second Place, $75, for his glass mosaic entry titled Jester; Jaime Lipat, Socastee High School, $50; for his chalk pastel entry titled Lolo; Ahmed Leguetar, North Myrtle Beach High School, Honorable Mention, $25, for his pen and marker entry titled Malcolm X; Jannet Fuerte, North Myrtle Beach High School, Honorable Mention, $25 for her digital photograph titled Marion; and Hayley Cook, St. James High School, Honorable Mention, $25 for her untitled photograph entry.
Three-Dimension Awards: Teresa Eaddy, St. James High School, First Place, $100 for her ceramic entry titled Breaking Through; Cierra Tinnell, North Myrtle Beach High School, Second Place, $75 for her acrylic entry titled Trax with Max; Megan Mitchell, Socastee High School, Third Place, $50 for her mixed media titled Theatre Size; Honorable Mention, Tripp Faile, Academy for Arts, Science and Technology, $25 for his copper and glass entry titled Element Tree; Olivia Younan, St. James High School, $25 for her mixed media entry titled Olivia’s Brazil; and Tyler Woodward, Academy for Arts, Science and Technology, $25, for his untitled mosaic entry.
