This year 112 students from across the state were chosen as award winners in the annual Jr. Duck Stamp Contest. Twenty-nine of those winners were from Horry County Schools. The Jr. Duck Stamp Contest is designed to teach students about wetlands and waterfowl conservation through an arts curriculum. The contest is divided into four age groups: Group I, K-3rd grade; Group II, 4-6th grade; Group III, 7-9th grade; and Group IV, 10-12th grade. Each group is given three first place, three second place, three third place, and 16 honorable mention awards in the art category. Twelve awards are given for writing a conservation message. All of the winning entries can be seen at www.jrduckstamp.com.
