In an exciting double elimination match, North Myrtle Beach High School defeated first runner-up Carolina Forest High School, to win the Championship of Horry County Schools' annual Academic Olympics which was held at Coastal Carolina University. The district’s high schools participated in the fast-paced games in which students are challenged to answer questions on many different subjects including math, literature, history, science, current events, and sports. After each question is asked by a moderator, the students "buzz in" to answer and win points for their team in a quiz bowl style format.

North Myrtle Beach High team members are: Zach Foster, Jessica Stevens, Julia Trexler, Brandon Truss, Heather Edwards, Shi Johnson, Cannon Livingston, Christian Hamilton, Zach Crowl, Erin McCaughny, and  Paige Kline. Their coach is Charles Horton.

Myrtle Beach High School was 2nd Runner Up and St. James High School was 3rd Runner Up in the tournament.
