High school students bring home honors in state DECA competition

Two area high schools brought home statewide honors
for team and individual events at the DECA South Carolina Career Development Conference held February 20-22 in Charleston. DECA is a student association for grades 9 - 12 that teaches civic consciousness, social awareness, and leadership development.

School and individual honors are as follows:

Academy for Technology and Academics:

  • 1st Place – Quinten Dottin, Kenisha Frinks, and Seth Gainforth for The Learn and Earn Project
  • 1st Place – Caitlyn Subbert for Hotel and Lodging Management
  • 1st Place – Ashley Kronenwetter for the Chapter Awards Project
  • 3rd Place – Lindsy Dodson for Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan
  • 3rd Place – Khalif Clayton for Entrepreneurship
  • Honorable Mention – Kolby Floyd and Alley Quiroga for Internet Marketing Management Team
  • Honorable Mention – Bryana Evans for the Marketing Management Series
  • Honorable Mention – Oba Mubarak and Michael Rovetto for Entrepreneurship Written
  • Top Ten – Cody Stacy for Technical Sales

Socastee High School:

  • 2nd Place – Tina Abbasi for Marketing Management
  • 2nd Place – Jessica Richards for Quick Serve Restaurant Management
  • Honorable Mention – Taylor West for Quick Serve Restaurant Management
  • Honorable Mention – Connor Santacroce for Restaurant and Food Service Management
  • Honorable Mention – Deanna Miller for Apparel and Accessories Marketing
  • Honorable Mention – Chelsea McKinney for Retail Merchandising
  • Cassady Jones-French Memorial Scholarship Recipient – Taylor West
  • Quiz Bowl All Star – Courtnay Bourque
