What to Expect

on Horry County Schools Staff Development and Work Days

August 10

School Staff Development/Work Day

Educators are expected to work and/or participate in school-level staff development activities in their buildings as designated by the principal.

No district staff development sessions will be planned for this day.

August 11, 12, and 13

District Staff Development Days

The district will plan a variety of staff development activities for educators based on district initiatives and needs.

Some sessions will be required, while other sessions will be optional.

Not all educators will have required meetings. Individuals not attending staff development sessions are expected to work in their buildings.

August 16, 17, and 18

School Staff Development Day & Meetings with Superintendent by Area

Educators are expected to participate in meetings with the superintendent during the assigned time for the area and to work and/or participate in school-level staff development activities in their buildings as designated by the principal for the other portion of the day.

The district will not plan required staff development on these days.

August 20

School Work Day

Educators are expected to work in their buildings.

No district staff development sessions will be planned for this day.

January 18

School Work Day

Educators are expected to work in their buildings.

No district staff development sessions will be planned for this day.

February 21

District Staff Development Day

The district will plan a variety of staff development activities for educators based on district initiatives and needs.

Some sessions will be required, while other sessions will be optional.

School Work Day

Educators are expected to work in their buildings.

No district staff development sessions will be planned for this day.

School Work Day

Educators are expected to conduct planned parent conferences during the school year. If educators have not conducted the planned parent conferences or are not required to conduct parent conferences, they are expected to work in their building.
