Payroll Processing

Payroll is processed on a semi-monthly basis.  All employees are paid based on the published schedule.

Direct deposit is strongly encouraged and can be activated by submitting the completed Direct Deposit Authorization  form  and banking documentation.  Taxes withheld from pay are based on the IRS guidelines.  Click here to obtain a copy of the W4 form  and instructions.  Completed W4 and Direct Deposit Authorization forms may be submitted via fax to (843) 488-6726 or emailed to the payroll department @ Payroll@horrycountyschools.netRequests received after the payroll processing cutoff date will be reflected on the following payroll.

Leave

Sick and Personal Leave is advanced at the beginning of the employment period for eligible employees.  Up to two days will be distributed to personal leave and the remainder to sick leave.  The balance of personal leave cannot exceed 4 days.  Personal leave may be used for sick leave if all available sick leave has been exhausted.  However, sick leave may not be used for personal leave.  An employee may accumulate up to a maximum of 150 sick leave days plus one year’s advancement which is accrued but not used, provided that the employee does not violate his/her respective contract

Annual Leave is accrued in the month in which it is earned.  Eligible employees receive 1/2 of the monthly accrual each payroll.   Annual leave can accrue up to 45 days plus one year’s accrual.  Once the balance reaches 45 days plus one year’s accrual, no further time will be earned until the balance falls below the maximum limit.

Absences that occur after all available leave has been exhausted may result in a pay reduction.   Employees on extended leave of absence are paid for the number of days worked plus available leave days.  Upon return to work, pay will be recalculated based on the number of work days remaining in the current contract year.
