New Hire Information

 

 

Welcome to Horry County Schools!  As you begin your work experience with us, we want to provide you with the information you will need to make important insurance and retirement decisions.  When you are scheduled to attend new hire orientation, you will be given the name and contact information of your benefits account manager. Your account manager will be available to work with you on any benefit questions or concerns.  Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you with this transition.

 

IMPORTANT
New Employees are required to complete New Hire Orientation PRIOR to assuming normal duties. Please call Christine Ferrante at 488-6884 to register for your class. 

ALL FIVE STEPS ARE REQUIRED

 

 

 

 

STEP 1

Register for Class

 

  • Upon approval of hire, you may schedule new hire orientation by calling Christine Ferrante at 488-6884.  Information to review videos will be provided to you. 

  STEP 2

Safety Videos

 

 

  • Log on to Safe Schools  to view the following required safety videos:
    • Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Sexual Harassment 

        You will need your user ID

                   STEP 3

                  View Retirement Video and Choose Plan

                   

                  Please review the following:

                    STEP 4

                   Information
                  REQUIRED for Dependent Enrollment

                   

                  • A copy of your social security card is required for benefit paperwork
                  • Credible Coverage letter (letter that shows proof of prior insurance)

                  IMPORTANT: Enrollment of New Dependents

                  Beginning May 2, 2011, EIP will require documentation at the time of enrollment for dependents of new hires and dependents added during open enrollment or due to a special eligibility situation.

                  Please be sure to submit photocopies only.

                  Where to find documentation:

                  If you do not have the required documentation, you may have to pay a fee to receive one from the governmental agency that has the original. We encourage you to request your documentation as soon as possible since this process may take several weeks and many agencies increase fees for expedited delivery.

                  Legal Spouse:

                   Marriage license

                  Former Spouse:

                   Photocopy of divorce decree ordering the subscriber to cover the former spouse.

                  Common Law Spouse:

                   Common Law Marriage Affidavit

                  Natural Child:

                   A copy of a birth certificate (long form1) showing the subscriber as the parent.

                  Step Child:

                   A copy of the birth certificate showing the name of the natural parent (long form1), plus proof that the natural parent and the subscriber are married (see Legal Spouse/Common Law Spouse requirement from above).

                  Adopted Child:

                   Court documentation verifying completed adoption or

                   A letter of placement from an adoption agency, an attorney or the S.C. Department of Social Services, verifying the adoption is in progress

                  Foster Child:

                   A court order or other legal document placing the child with the subscriber, who is a licensed foster parent.

                  Other Children:

                   For all other children for whom a subscriber has legal custody, a court order or other legal document granting custody of the child to the subscriber. Documentation must verify the subscriber has guardianship responsibility for child, not merely financial responsibility.

                  Incapacitated Child:

                   Incapacitated Child Certification Form plus proof of relationship. See the appropriate child type (natural, step, adopted, foster or other) in the above list for acceptable proof of relationship.

                   

                    STEP 5
                   

                  Documents you are

                  • 2 Forms of ID to complete I-9 (Please note Horry County Schools participates in the Social Security Administration’s and Dept. of Homeland Security’s E-VERIFY service.)
                  • TB Test Results
                  • Voided Personal Check for Direct Deposit

                  IMPORTANT!

                   

                  ALL VIDEOS LISTED ABOVE ARE A REQUIREMENT FOR NEW HIRE ORIENTATION AND MUST BE VIEWED* PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED CLASS.

                  *If you do not have access to a computer or the internet you can visit a public library, school or the District Office to complete the videos.
