Parent Educator Resource Services

In an effort to help parents, students, and teachers, Horry County Schools offers Parent Educator Resource Services (PERS). Staffed by an educator and a parent, the services provided include:

Information and training to help parents learn to become better advocates for their children and to understand education policies;
Help to develop partnerships between parents and school personnel;
A lending library and resource center;
Support for parents and school personnel at IEP meetings;
Support groups for students and parents;
and Training, resources, and assistance for educators.

The center is currently staffed by parents who are advocates for students with special needs and experienced educators in special education. The telephone number is (843) 488-6240 or 488-6241.
