Measures of Academic Progress   (MAP)

MAP are electronically administered and scored achievement tests designed to measure growth for individual students, classrooms, schools, and the district. The tests measure students' general knowledge in reading, language usage, and math. Horry County Schools students in grades 2 - 9 and selected other high school students will take the tests in September, December, and March.

MAP helps teachers, schools, and the district to:

  • Monitor growth in student achievement over time.
  • Monitor the progress of all students toward state standards.
  • Place students into appropriate courses or instructional settings.
  • Provide instructional focus.
  • Screen students for gifted programs.
  • Communicate to parents and the community.
