From the Principal, Welcome to the web page for Whittemore Park Middle School. We are located in Conway, South Carolina, about fifteen minutes from Myrtle Beach. We serve approximately 660 students in the 6th-8th grade, and our population is predominantly rural. We also have the distinguished honor of receiving an excellent rating on our AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) report card in the year 2003. Our school is currently undergoing renovations that should be completed by November of this fall. We would like to thank our school board and local voters for funding our school improvements. We will soon be unveiling our new gymnasium and auditorium. One of our goals this year is to become one of the first National Schools to Watch in South Carolina. This year, we will continue emphasizing a strong literacy program that spans all classrooms in our building. Many of our teachers are involved in professional development and graduate courses that focus on learning and using best practices that are research-based and nationally-recognized. As we continue to build our Professional Learning Community, we invite our students, parents, and community to join us in reading, writing, discussing, and reflecting upon the instruction that matters. We welcome everyone to visit our school and get a glimpse of the wonderful, challenging experiences that are occurring in our classrooms. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our school.
