As principal, I am pleased to welcome you to Green Sea Floyds Middle & High School. The administration, faculty, and staff are committed for the 2008-2009 year to educating and preparing all students for success in today's ever-changing society. As noted in our mission statement, we will provide appropriate educational experiences, strive for higher levels of achievement in curricular and extra-curricular experiences, and facilitate parental and community involvement in all aspects of the school's activities and achievements. In summary, we are here to provide the students with the best education. I want everyone to know that we anticipate great success for our students in 2008-2009 and it is a goal that we provide stability and communication among all parties involved in a student's educational career. Our focus this year will continue to be on "Closing the Implementation Gap" and we will build upon the professional development communitites that are established. As a school, we will continue to utilize data teams to focus on student academic progress. By utilizing the academic data provided by our students, we will be able to focus on each student and provide the necessary tools he or she will need to be successful. We will continue to address the many programs designed to enhance instruction such as Teach First and "The Anatomy of an Effiective Lesson". We encourage all students to read over the summer and return rejuvenated and well-rested. Our entire staff continues to work many hard and long hours preparing for the return of students in August 2008. We have created an environment that all can be proud of and please be sure to recognize our custodial staff when possible for all of the work they have accomplished over the summer. Student registration for 2008-2009 will be held at GSFM/H on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm. Please mark this date on your calendar. 2007-2008 was a great year and GSFM/H can boast that we had our very own National Merit Finalist and also the South Carolina Wendy's High School Heisman award winner. In looking forward to the 2008-2009 school year, we will focus on what's important and that is our students. They are one of the most valuable resources we have for the future and must be prepared to keep up with society's pace. I certainly look forward to working with one of the finest staff's around that focus on our students and their acheievement. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call or come by to discuss them. I am here to support our students, staff and community. Respectfully, R.L. "Chip" Hennecy, Jr., Ed.D.
