Dear Parents, We want to thank you for working with us to make our 2007-08 school year very successful. It has been our pleasure to have good communication with our parents and community members. We feel Waccamaw Elementary is a family-friendly school that embraces the love of learning. We certainly have many reasons to celebrate our love of learning such as: having Smart Board technology in every classroom, incorporating a before school math tutoring lab, supporting positive discipline through the use of the PBIS Treasure Tower, encouraging reading through Family Reading nights and involving parent through Donuts for Dads, Muffins for Moms just to name a few. We are proud of our community partners: Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Coastal Carolina University Mentoring Program and First Citizens Bank that have contributed to our progress in promoting good citizenship by volunteering in classrooms. The Kiwanis have an after school programs that we proudly call K-Kids. The Carolina Forest Sunrise Rotary Club is in the process of creating and supporting a clothes closet for needy children. Coastal Carolina University has provided student mentors for students in grades 1, 2, 4 and 5. First Citizens Bank which is located very close to our school has agreed to send volunteers to work in our classrooms and monitor during our PACT test. We are thankful for our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) which has contributed both financially and with their time and talents to see that all parents have an opportunity to become an integral part of the school as we strive for a quality education of our students. PTO has made parent involvement fun through Fear Factor Night, Parent Softball game and Staff Appreciation Week. We hope that you take time over the summer to enjoy your family time and read with your child. Please have a safe and healthy summer vacation. We look forward to seeing you and your child (ren) in August. We are committed to always giving our best to your child (ren). We hope that our dedication shines through as your child reaches for the stars. Mrs. Barbara Ammons Principal Mrs. Gail Dale Assistant Principal |
