Nurse's Notes

Meet Our Nurse

Ms. Ginger Richardson

Here are some notes from the nurse that all parents may find informative.

Medications - Horry County School District will be unable to dispense any type of medication to students unless we have a Permission for Medication Form on file in the health room. Please read the guidelines listed below very carefully. If any questions regarding the district policy, please call out school nurse, Ginger Richardson 365-2512 ext.3103.

Administration of Medication - All medications must be sent in the original container. Prescription medications must be labeled by the pharmacy. We cannot initiate the change until we receive a doctor's written ordered (fax accepted) from the parent. Medications must be kept in the health room and must be administered by the nurse.

Prescription Medication

  • Written parental or legal guardian's permission for each medicine is required and maintained with the health record using the Permission for Medicaion form. These forms are available in the nurse's office.
  • Individual pharmacy labeled bottle must be provided by the parent for each medication administered and caontain the student's name, date, medication, dosage, strength, directions for use, physician's name, and pharmacy name and address. When the prescription is filled, ask the pharmacist for a bottle for school. They will be happy to do this.
