Homewood Elementary's Family Resource Center is designed to serve both students,parents and teachers. Our "Family Resource Center" is stocked with books, educational games, supplies, equipment, videos,parenting literature and tapes for effective parenting skills. The center is open during regular school hours, 8:00am- 3:00pm.Our Home/School Coordinator, Kathy O'Connor organizes these activities. The Family Resource Center offers a variety of workshops: Active Parenting Today is geared toward parents with children ages 2 to 12 years old. It is designed to help parents eliminate power struggles with discipline skills that really work. This workshop is six sessions long and is offered through out the year. Parents on Board and 2,3,4 Parents are workshops that are offered both in group form or on an inividual basis. Parents can call the school to sign up. The Family Resource also offers personalized home visits focusing on our birth to five ear olds. The Home/School Coordinator comes to the home to work with the child for school readiness. A variety of guest speakers also offer workshops throughout the school year. They speak on drug prevention, peer pressure, parenting skills, and many other topics dealing with school and home. We also offer Preschool Storytime every Monday at 10:00 am. Join us in the Family Resource Center for a half hour of stories and fun activities.This is open to the entire community with children agead 2 to 5 years old.
