Learn Photoshop tips and tricks... take an average photo and make it great!

 

- Use the cloning tool to take unwanted objects out of a photo, like telephone wires, glare on glasses, etc.

- Add type with a drop shadow, or use bevel and emboss for a 3-D effect.

- Blend several photos together to make a montage for print or web.

- Record an action to perform the same task over and over.

- Use artistic filters to turn your photo into a work of art!

An introduction for teachers to various aspects of the SMARTboard beginning with the design of the board and the technology behind it. Demonstrations will include:  how to use Ink Aware to turn written words into text; becoming familiar with the Gallery and all that it entails. Procedures on how teachers can create their own lesson plans and using the SMARTboard’s new Concept -Mapping Software from SMART ideas which lets you capture and display ideas and their relationships in a clear graphical way. You can also create simple cause-and -effect concept maps or more complex ones depending on your grade level and subject that is taught.

Accessing Assessment Data Online for Elementary/Middle School Teachers

Use Horry County School’s Data Tools: Online Assessment Services to retrieve your students’ MAP, PACT, and HSAP results and the NWEA’s Reports site to view current MAP results and student MAP growth over time. The session will also include information about resources that will help you understand your MAP data/reports and how to use the data to improve instruction.

Primary Sources at The Library of Congress and on the Internet

Frank and Cathy Moore have spent one week during the last two summers becoming Library of Congress ambassadors. During their summer institutes at the Library of Congress they have learned a lot about what is (and isn't) available as online primary sources. During this 75 minute session they will share as much as the can about what they have learned. (If you have a laptop that can access the Internet, feel free to bring it to the session. Be advised that no technical support will be available if you can not easily connect to the HCS network at the ATA.)

Digital Photography Across the Curriculum

This is a basic level digital camera class that welcomes all levels but will introduce the bare essentials of digital photography.  Topics include basic operation of a digital camera,

photo composition, camera controls, uploading and saving images, and basic image enhancement for creative use along with some ideas on how to incorporate it into your specific subject area.  You are encouraged to bring along your own digital camera to follow along with hands on activities, but this is not mandatory to take this session.
