Laptop Initiative

It didn’t take long for enthusiasm to become contagious. In a matter of weeks, the number of teachers wanting to participate in the district’s new laptop initiative exceeded 500. With a goal of inspiring more teachers to use technology in the classroom, the Board approved a million dollars each year for the past three years to fund a laptop initiative that puts laptops, projectors, and Interwrite Pads into the hands of teachers. More than 1,200 teachers have received equipment, participated in training, and are working together to create a web-based learning community. Horry County will be expanding the laptop initiative again this summer.  If you are a classroom teacher in Horry County and you are interested in participating in this program, check back in August for the most recent information pertaining to the application process.
