National mentoring month Community Services

As Horry County Schools continues its quest to be the top performing school district in South Carolina, we need the community's support and assistance through work as volunteers and mentors in our schools. Join others in your community who have made a pledge to tutor and mentor the children of Horry County. Contact a school in your neighborhood to become a volunteer or send us an e-mail. HCS Adult Education program wins customer service award
The HCS Adult Education program was presented the Group Specialized Customer Service Award by the SC Chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP).

Jean Burden named Teacher of the Year
Jean Burden, seventh grade ELA teacher at Loris Middle School, has been named Teacher of the Year.

More district students take AP courses and exams
Districtwide, 740 students participated in Advanced Placement courses, an increase of 112 over the 628 who participated last year.
