HCS Adult Education program wins customer service award
May 8, 2008

The Horry County Schools Adult Education program was presented the Group Specialized Customer Service Award by the South Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP) at the chapter’s annual conference held IAWP April 25 in Spartanburg.

In 2007, the HCS Adult Education program provided specialized services to adult learners through the Coastal Workforce Center in Conway by offering 28 workshops to prepare jobseekers for a job search and assisted numerous individuals in obtaining their GED. In addition, educators provided over 1,500 sessions on computer skills and offered career readiness training to women at the J. Rueben Long Detention Center.

IAWP is a world-wide professional association of over 10,000 members.  Its mission is to enhance the education of members and promote legislation that affects workforce development. There are almost 400 members in South Carolina mostly working in workforce centers and one-stops.
