Leigh Pounds, a junior at Socastee High School, was the winner of the 5th annual T-shirt and logo design contest for the Surfside Area Rotary Club. All participants received a t-shirt. Before the start of the race at 10:00 a.m. last Saturday, Leigh was presented with a $50 savings bond for being the winner of the school and a $100.00 savings bond for being the overall winner. Leigh is an International Baccalaureate student and is currently taking Art 4 and is considering a career in Interior design or Social work. Honorable mentions include: Ryne Martin (IB Art), Julie Thompson (Art 4), Joey Draper (Art 3), Keri Sanborn (Art 3) and Frannie Hughey (Art 4). The students attended the board meeting for Coast RTA today, Feb. 27th at 12:00 noon to receive their savings bonds. First place winner, Frannie Hughey, will have her design imprinted on one of the Coast RTA buses.
