This year 101 students from across the state were chosen as award winners in the annual Jr. Duck Stamp Contest. Twenty-one of those winners were from Horry County Schools. The Jr. Duck Stamp Contest is designed to teach students about wetlands and waterfowl conservation through an arts curriculum. The contest is divided into four age groups: K-3rd grade, 4-6th grade, 7-9th grade, and 10-12th grade. Each group is given three first place, three second place, three third place, and 16 honorable mention awards. All of the winning entries can be seen at www.jrduckstamp.com. Pee Dee ElementarySchool won fifteen awards, Waccamaw Elementary School won three awards, Carolina Forest High School won one award, and Socastee High School won two awards.
