Aynor High School wins Academic Olympics title for second consecutive year
December 15, 2007

In an exciting double elimination match, Aynor High School defeated first runner-up North Myrtle Beach High School, to retain Championship of Horry County Schools' annual Academic Olympics which was held at Coastal Carolina University. The district’s high schools participated in the fast-paced games in which students are challenged to answer questions on many different subjects including math, literature, history, science, current events, and sports. After each question is asked by a moderator, the students "buzz in" to answer and win points for their team in a quiz bowl style format.

Other team winners are as follows:

First Runner-up
North Myrtle Beach High School
(L-R) Brandon Truss, Heather Edwards, Zachery Foster, Joseph Spivey, Coach Charles Horton, and Sara Caudill.

Second Runner-up

(L-R) Alyssa Leibman, Coach John Mann, Charles Smith, Nicholas Rierson, and Karissa O'Keefe.

Third Runner-up
St. James High School

Jacob Zulanch, Kaitlyn Weldon, Zane Powell, Elizabeth Martel, Coach Brett Mahaffey, and Kyle Kovalchek.
