Wright recognized for his leadership in helping to pass bus safety legislation
August 24, 2007

Jim Wright, Director Transportation for Horry County Schools, was recognized by the Senate of South Carolina for his leadership and involvement in helping to pass meaningful legislation for the safety of children being transported on school buses. Bill 3161 addresses adequate seating on buses, annual inspections of buses, a reduction of the walking distance between a student's home and bus stop from five-tenths to three-tenths of one mile with greater reductions taken for students in earlier grades, a grant system for possible reimbursement from the State for costs associated with hazardous stops and alternate routes, and a fifteen-year replacement cycle for State owned buses.
