Smith chosen for American history teacher institute

Jacqueline Smith of North Myrtle Beach Intermediate School has been selected to participate in an American history teacher institute sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and administered by the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. The teacher institute, Stony the Road We Trod, will use Alabama landmarks to teach historic events of the Civil Rights movement in the United States. The institute is also sponsored by the Jefferson County Board of Education and the Center for Civic Education and will be held July 8–14.
