2007-08 calendars approved

Horry County Schools announces the student calendars for the 2007-2008 school year. The traditional calendar is as follows:

August 27: First day of school for students
September 3: School closed for Labor Day
October 29: Student holiday / teacher workday
November 22-23: Schools closed for Thanksgiving holiday
December 20-January 1: Schools closed for winter break
January 2: Student holiday / teacher workday
January 14: School closed
January 18: Early dismissal for students
January 21: Student holiday / teacher workday
February 18: Student holiday / teacher workday
March 21-28: Schools closed for spring break
April 4: Student holiday / teacher workday
May 26: Schools closed for Memorial Day
June 5-6: Early dismissal for students
June 6: Last day of school for students

Daisy Elementary School in the Loris attendance area is the only school in the District on a year-round calendar. The year-round calendar is as follows:

July 23: First day of school for students
August 20-21: Student holiday / teacher workday
September 3: School closed for Labor Day
September 24: Student holidays / teacher workdays
September 25-October 12: Schools closed
November 22-23: Schools closed for Thanksgiving holiday
December 17-January 3: Schools closed for winter break
January 4: Student holiday / teacher workday
January 14: Schools closed
January 18: Early dismissal
February 18: Student holiday / teacher workday
March 21-April 3: Schools closed for spring break
April 4: Student holiday / teacher workday
May 26: Schools closed for Memorial Day
June 5: Last day of school for students - Early dismissal

Both the calendars above represent student instructional calendars. These calendars do not include all staff development days for employees.
