HCS announces new appointments

Horry County Schools has named new principals for 11 schools for the 2006-07 school year. Those named are:

• Porter Kennington, Conway High School. Kennington is transferring from North Myrtle Beach High School, where he worked as principal for the past eight years.

• Mike Blanton, North Myrtle Beach High School. Most recently, Blanton was principal of Early College High School and District Executive Director for Middle Schools. He previously served as principal at North Myrtle Beach Middle School.

• Ronnie Burgess, Academy for Arts, Science and Technology. Burgess is transferring from the principalship at St. James High School, where he has worked for the last three years. He has also been principal at Myrtle Beach High School.

• Joe Dowling, St. James High School. Dowling has served in numerous District level positions and has been principal at the Academy for Arts, Science and Technology and Aynor-Conway Career Center.

• Reggie Gasque, Aynor Elementary School. Gasque is transferring from Pee Dee Elementary School, where he worked as principal for the past two years.

• Shelton Long, Loris Elementary School. Long is transferring from North Myrtle Beach Intermediate School, where he worked as principal for the past seven years.

• Cheryl Banks, Pee Dee Elementary School. Banks is transferring from Socastee Elementary School, where she worked as principal for the past 6 years.

• Michelle Greene-Graham, North Myrtle Beach Intermediate School. Graham is transferring from Whittemore Park Middle School, where she has worked as principal for the past two years.

• Mary Clark, Conway Middle School. Clark is moving from an assistant principal’s position at Conway High School.

• Robbie Watkins, Whittemore Park Middle School. Watkins is moving from an assistant principal’s position at Loris Middle School.

• Deb Colliver, Midland Elementary School. Colliver is moving from an assistant principal’s position at Myrtle Beach Intermediate School.
