April 4, 2006 Fourteen schools within Horry County Schools are among 138 statewide to be recognized by the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee (EOC) for closing the achievement gap. For the third consecutive year, HCS had more schools recognized for closing the achievement gap than any other district in South Carolina. A recognition ceremony will be held on April 10 in Columbia. For the fourth year, the EOC staff is recognizing the efforts of schools to close the achievement gap among students of differing economic and ethnic groups. The annual study uses results of the 2005 Palmetto Achievement Challenge Tests (PACT). The following schools from HCS were recognized: Aynor Elementary School, Daisy Elementary School, Kingston Elementary School, Lakewood Elementary School, Midland Elementary School, Myrtle Beach Elementary School, Conway Elementary School, Forestbrook Elementary School, Carolina Forest Elementary School, North Myrtle Beach Elementary School, Seaside Elementary School, Myrtle Beach Intermediate School, Palmetto Bays Elementary School and Bridgewater Academy Charter School. |
