Parent-Child Home program recognized for promoting parenting and school readiness

October 28, 2005

Horry County Schools’ Parent-Child Home Program was recognized at the annual meeting of Horry County First Steps for contributions in promoting parenting and enhancing school readiness.

The Parent-Child Home Program is a home visiting program for families with children ages two - four years old that prepares young children for school success by increasing language and literacy skills, enhancing social-emotional development and strengthening the parent -child relationship. The program is a partnership between Horry County Schools and Horry County First Steps.

During the last three years, 345 families have received Parent-Child bi-weekly home visits.
